ENTRENAMIENTO PARA INTEGRAR LA PERSPECTIVA INTERSECCIONAL DE GÉNERO EN LOS PROYECTOS Y CRÉDITO PARA FUNDECOOPERACIÓN PARA EL DESARROLLO SOSTENIBLE

Initiative takes place within the framework of the More Women More Nature Program and was taught by the Finance for Biodiversity initiative (BIOFIN).

As part of the innovation and commitment that Fundecooperación para el Desarrollo Sostenible has on issues of equality and the empowerment of women, the Organization was part of a specialized training, in order to have the necessary tools to integrate the intersectional perspective of gender in their projects, programs and credits.

Thanks to this training, which was given by the Finance for Biodiversity (BIOFIN) initiative of the National Development Units Program (UNDP), and within the framework of the More Women More Nature Program, more than 30 people from the Fundecooperación team have the necessary tools to promote this issue in the actions for Sustainable Development that are implemented in the organization regarding the conservation of biodiversity and resilience in the face of the climate crisis.

Marianella Feoli, Executive Director of Fundecooperación, comments that “we have invested time as a Fundecooperación team in training ourselves in such a relevant and cross-cutting issue for our daily work, such as the incorporation and support of women in productive activities, access to credit and opportunities. We thank UNDP for the opportunity to share knowledge and experiences that will undoubtedly favor our efforts towards sustainability and gender equality. ”

For her part, Ana Lucía Orozco Rubio, Coordinator of the Finance Initiative for Biodiversity of UNDP, points out that “from BIOFIN we find in Fundecooperación a mutual conviction to achieve transformative gender impacts in our portfolio of financial solutions, in favor of equality , the empowerment and autonomy of women in Costa Rica. It is strategic alliances like this one that allow us to build better for the future and to face, and with strength, the multiple challenges that we live as humanity, and that have a different impact on women, especially those who live in older situations of vulnerability. Placing women at the center of solutions generates resilience for families, for the sustainability of our natural heritage,

VALUE CONTENT

As for the training, it consisted of 04 sessions, where the gender inequalities experienced by women were analyzed in detail, and which limit the full exercise of Human Rights, access to opportunities and benefits derived from Sustainable Development and the conservation of Biodiversity, on equal terms with men.

In addition, it was possible to reflect and deepen on what it is and what it implies to integrate the intersectional gender perspective as an essential tool to ensure the closing of gaps and promote the empowerment of women, especially with regard to economic autonomy.

Likewise, it offered concrete tools, like ABC, about the technical and operational measures that are necessary to ensure that the results and benefits of Sustainable Development impact women in their diversity in the extensive work carried out by Fundecooperación.

Finally, this specialized training is evidence of the innovation and commitment, at the highest level, that Fundecooperación para el Desarrollo Sostenible possesses in order to walk on the right path and achieve the World Development Goals that allow transforming the reality of women , the communities and the country.
